POKOTABI / Yakiniku Sano
焼肉さの
At Yakiniku Sano in Uzumasa, Kyoto, a broad selection of meat dishes spans special select Japanese beef lean platters, sukiyaki-style yakishabu, and steamed sesame pork. Attentive service and comfortable seating make for an easygoing dinner.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Beyond prime Japanese beef grilled over the tabletop roasters, Yakiniku Sano in Uzumasa presents a thoughtful lineup of meat dishes. Offerings focused on natural beef flavor range from special select Wagyu lean platters and salted offal to a special steak set pairing tenderloin with vegetables. Daily specials introduce different preparations that go beyond simple grilling, such as sukiyaki-style Wagyu yakishabu, lightly seared special rare steak served tataki- or yukhoe-style, and seared liver.
Alongside beef yakiniku, the menu features options that keep richer cuts light, including steamed sesame pork, grilled Choshu chicken, and a sesame pork grill set paired with leaf lettuce and seasoned house miso. Diners can sip beer or makgeolli alongside Wagyu beef tendon teppanyaki and chive chijimi pancakes, then conclude with a long-simmered oxtail soup, oxtail ramen, or cold noodles, adjusting their orders naturally as the meal unfolds.
Sunken kotatsu-style tables, where guests remove their shoes and stretch out, lend a relaxed feel well suited to family dinners and outings with friends. From small conveniences like meat-cutting shears and child-friendly tableware to bright, brisk service, the restaurant maintains a welcoming atmosphere from its 18:00 opening through dinner.
